Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr. Message for Ash Wednesday 2025

As we begin the Lenten journey, Jesus calls us to a deeper, more authentic faith—one that isn’t performed for the approval of others but lived in quiet devotion to God. In Matthew 6, Jesus reminds us to pray, give and fast in secret, trusting that God sees and rewards what is done in love. This Ash Wednesday, we are invited to let go of our need for recognition and embrace the freedom of a faith that flourishes in unseen places. What if this Lent, we gave up not just chocolate, but the need for human approval?
